Project Overview

Union Concrete completed an intensive construction schedule in 2023 for the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of the East side of Runway 5-23, including the intersection for runways 5-23 and 14-32 along with significant electrical work. This was a 4-phase contract stipulating a uniquely rigorous schedule which was developed in 10 minute increments allowing the successful evasion of $25,000/half hour liquidated damages. The work was completed in four of the five scheduled weekend shutdowns while air traffic was temporarily suspended.

Other airfield maintenance included overlays on Taxiways A, D, C, B and V, full depth reconstruction of Taxiway D, new drainage and other miscellaneous work.  This contract also included non-airfield rehabilitation work on the Perimeter Rd and Aero Dr tunnels.
