Runway Tunnel & Structural Work

Performed extensive structural rehabilitation of tunnel infrastructure beneath Runway 5-23 as part of the reconstruction of BNIA’s primary runway. The below-grade work required specialized construction beneath critical airfield pavement while coordinating structural, drainage, pavement, and operational requirements within the overall runway rehabilitation.
Project Overview

Union Concrete’s rehabilitation of Runway 5-23 at Buffalo Niagara International Airport extended beyond the reconstruction of the airfield pavement. The project incorporated specialized structural work on tunnel infrastructure beneath the runway, requiring careful coordination between below-grade construction and the extensive runway improvements above. Combined with the large-scale pavement reconstruction, this work added another layer of complexity to an already demanding project performed within an active international airport.

Let's get to work.
