Evangola State Park

Compensatory Wetland Mitigation Project alongside NYSTA and NYS Parks
Project Overview

This 2013 compensatory project focused on two acres of wetland mitigation impacted by the Thruway reconstruction, creating three acres of wetlands at Evangola State Park. The trifecta between Union Concrete, NYSTA, NYS Parks, and Watts Architects & Engineers was pivotal throughout the work. Results boasted recreational and educational design elements. 20,000 cubic yards of rocky fill was a key feature of this design, which also focused on tree preservation, human functionality with minimal environmental disturbance, and continued education for outdoor enthusiasts.  The Park site received contouring, new paths and pedestrian bridges, kiosk & interpretative signs, weirs and plantings.

Let's get to work.
