Project Overview

Preserving a Buffalo Waterfront Landmark

Union Concrete performed specialized restoration work at the South Buffalo Lighthouse complex on Buffalo’s Lake Erie waterfront. The project included rehabilitation of approximately 3,000 square feet of deteriorated concrete, reinforcement and placement of a new structural concrete overlay, cable rail repairs, and extensive work to the foghorn building. Additional improvements included replacement of the foghorn building roof and supporting timbers, restoration of existing steel trusses, and installation of a new membrane roofing system to help preserve this historic waterfront facility.

Concrete Restoration

Rehabilitated approximately 3,000 square feet of deteriorated concrete through selective removal, installation of new reinforcing steel and mesh, and placement of a new 4,000-PSI concrete overlay.

Foghorn Building Rehabilitation

Restored the foghorn building with new structural timbers and roof decking, rehabilitation of the existing metal trusses, and installation of a new rubber membrane roofing system with associated flashing.

Historic Waterfront Preservation

Completed specialized restoration work within the South Buffalo Lighthouse complex, addressing deteriorated structural elements while helping preserve an important piece of Buffalo’s maritime infrastructure.
