South Lyon Street over Tonawanda Creek Bridge Replacement Project

Union Concrete completed the replacement of the South Lyon Street Bridge over Tonawanda Creek in the City of Batavia, replacing an aging single-lane temporary structure with a modern two-lane steel truss bridge. The new structure utilizes a modified Warren pony truss design with hot-dip galvanized structural steel selected to provide exceptional corrosion resistance and minimize long-term maintenance. The project also incorporated a dedicated pedestrian sidewalk, new bridge foundations, roadway realignment, and reconstruction of the approaches, restoring an important connection between residential areas and Batavia’s West Main Street commercial district.
