This curved steel bridge had the most idiosyncrasies. The beginning abutment was constructed atop a geosynthetic reinforced soil system housed between an existing retaining wall along the I-190 SB on-ramp and the stem wall of the proposed tunnel. There were numerous design revisions to this structure from the steel to rebar to bolt finishes as well as some value engineering by UCC to use micropiles in lieu of soil nails at the Pier 2.
